California Gray 800 sq. ft. Weekend DIY Epoxy Flake Floor Kit
A complete, pre-measured epoxy flake floor system sized for an oversized three-car garage or home shop — about 800 square feet, or roughly 20 x 40 ft. California Gray is a cool, balanced gray: clean and contemporary — the most popular blend we ship, and the easiest to keep looking tidy between washes.
Everything needed to finish the floor ships in one order, and the whole install is designed to be completed by two people over a single weekend — typically 3 to 4 times less than hiring a contractor for the same square footage.
What's included in this 800 sq. ft. kit
- SkipGrind 3-Part No-Grind Concrete Primer — bonds to properly cleaned concrete with no mechanical grinding, no rented equipment, and no dust
- WiseFlake Pre-Tinted Epoxy Base Coat (A&B, 2:1) — a high-solids, slow-curing base with extended working time for flake broadcast
- California Gray 1/4" Multicolor Flake Chips — enough material for a true 100% broadcast across the full 800 sq. ft.
- SparticPro Polyaspartic Clear High-Gloss Top Coat (A&B, 1:1) — UV-stable, non-yellowing, and roughly 4x more abrasion resistant than epoxy alone
Coverage and sizing
This kit covers up to 800 sq. ft. at full flake refusal, and includes extra flake so you will not run short mid-broadcast. Measure your floor length x width; if the result lands slightly over 800 sq. ft., step up to the next kit size rather than stretching this one.
Install and cure timeline
Day 1: clean and etch the slab, then apply SkipGrind Primer (about an hour of work, 18-hour cure). Day 2: roll the tinted epoxy base and broadcast California Gray flakes to full coverage; the flaked surface is walkable in 6 to 8 hours, then scrape and vacuum the excess. Day 2 or 3: apply the SparticPro topcoat — light foot traffic after about 10 hours, return your contents at 24 hours, and park vehicles on it after a full 72-hour cure. Cure times lengthen in cooler weather.
Apply between 50-90°F with relative humidity below 75%, and leave the garage door open a 6-8 inch gap for airflow while each coat cures.
