This advanced no-grind bonding primer adheres to virtually any properly prepared surface. SkipGrind dramatically reduces floor prep time, seals slab laitance, and minimizes dust, debris, and demolition hazards while balancing surface pH to help prevent finish coat cracking, peeling, or delamination. The formula is perfect for DIY homeowners and weekend warrior installers. The formula is non-toxic and environmentally responsible, making it safe for both professionals and DIY installers.

FEATURES:

  • Reduces surface prep, expense and project completion time
  • Superior adhesion to various substrates
  • High resistance to chemical, impact and abrasion
  • Non-Toxic and environmentally friendly
  • Does not support the growth of fungus or bacteria
  • Resistant to hydraulic fluid, grease and other hydrocarbon contaminates
  • Wide temperature in-service range

SkipGrind isn’t just an improvement in concrete floor preparation, it’s a breakthrough advancement in epoxy floor installation technology. By eliminating the need for mechanical concrete grinding, it removes the most time-consuming, labor-intensive, and expensive step in preparing a concrete surface for epoxy coatings. No heavy grinders, no clouds of concrete dust, and no extensive cleanup.

What once required specialized equipment, contractor crews, and days of surface preparation can now be completed quickly and efficiently by a do-it-yourself homeowner or installer. SkipGrind allows you to move from floor prep to epoxy coating faster, delivering professional-grade adhesion, long-term durability, and a clean installation process without sacrificing performance.

HOW TO MIX: SkipGrind Concrete Primer Epoxy

1. SkipGrind Primer kits are premeasured consisting of one jug of A-resin, one jug of B-hardener, and one bag of C-thickening blend. Pour the full contents of Parts A and B into a 5-gallon bucket and mix for 30 seconds. While mixing, slowly add Part C powder while under agitation. It is important to “wet-out” all parts of dry mix, scraping the bottom and sides of bucket. Incomplete mixing will cause an inconsistent finish.

2. Mix the entire kit.

HOW TO APPLY? SkipGrind Concrete Primer Epoxy

Apply when surface and ambient temperatures range between 50 F (10 C) and 90 F (32 C) and will remain that way for 24 hours.

APPLICATION:

1. Apply SkipGrind Primer on a damp floor. It should be applied after the floor surface has been thoroughly cleaned, etched, and rinsed (Day 1 Prep). The garage floor should be damp but not wet. Use a squeegee or leaf blower to remove any standing water from corners, low spots, and out through the garage door, leaving the surface uniformly damp and ready for primer application.

2. Immediately after mixing, pour the entire bucket evenly onto the concrete surface in wavy ribbons running perpendicular across the floor. Spread at approximately 100 sq. ft. per gallon (Each 2-gal/3-Part "kit" will cover 200 sq. ft.). If oil stains are present, use a stiff bristled broom/brush to work the product into the concrete surface. Do not scrape the sides or the bottom of the mixing bucket onto the floor. Any unmixed product can contaminate the cure process.

3. Use the 26" Easy Squeegee® Notched Blade, 15-20 Wft Mils gauge squeegee for proper thickness to spread the material at approximately 100 sq. ft. per gallon. Work the primer into the concrete with a medium-bristle broom using circular motions to ensure proper penetration.

4. Next, using a 3/8” nap 18-inch non-shedding roller with a phenolic (plastic) core, roll the primer lightly forward and backward to distribute it evenly across the entire surface, do not cross roll. Roll just as you would paint a floor, ensuring uniform coverage working your way out of the room.

No sanding is required.

COVERAGE:

100 sq. ft. per gallon.

NOTE: Proper PPE (personal protective equipment), including gloves, eye protection, and appropriate respiratory protection, must be worn at all times during the mixing and application of epoxy products.

CLEAN UP:

Mixing bucket and mixer/blades should be scraped out thoroughly and cleaned with solvents such as acetone or xylene. Once product begins hardening isopropyl alcohol, or acetone may be required. Once dry, product can only be removed mechanically.

WARNING! SLIP AND FALL PRECAUTIONS

OSHA and the American Disabilities Act (ADA) have now set enforceable standards for slip resistance on pedestrian surfaces. The current coefficient of friction required by ADA is .6 on level surfaces and .8 on ramps. It is recommended that the use of angular slip-resistant aggregate in all coatings or flooring systems that may be exposed to wet, oily or greasy conditions. It is the contractor and end users’ responsibility to provide a flooring system that meets current safety standards. WideNond® or its sales agents will not be responsible for injury incurred in a slip and fall accident.

Handling & PPE Precautions

Use only with adequate ventilation. Appropriate cartridge-type respirator must be used during application in confined areas. Avoid contact with skin. Some individuals may be allergic to epoxy resin. Protective gloves and clothing are recommended.
